Enclosure in the English Midlands

Tuesday November 14th, 7:30 at Wulstans Hall, Pershore.

Presented by Dr Richard Churchley, local and family historian. Long established in the entertainment business as a singer and musician, Richard aims to be entertaining as well as historically accurate. Wildlife must have been very different in the eighteenth century when land was much more open before hedges were planted everywhere. The talk concentrates on explaining why the enclosures took place and how the open field system had worked previously and the enormous changes to the landscape and rural life which followed enclosure.
